“Water is the engine of Nature
Leonardo da Vinci
The exhibition AQVA sobre ÁGUA is presented at the Museum do Abade de Baçal, installed in the old Episcopal Palace of the city of Bragança and it is built from the ordination of materials and works that Lourdes Fisa has recently exhibited at the Museum Lisboa Roman Theatre, with the photographs of aqueducts and other engineering resources of Pedro Inácio, expert in Cultural Heritage of Water. The work of Lourdes Fisa is based on the inspiration of water and constructions for its transport. As the artist indicates in the catalog, “The aqueducts, the canals and the Vitruvius book of Architecture inspire me imaginary spaces. Vitruvius reminds us that architectural proportions should reflect the harmony of the universe. Second inspiration.

“I am interested in expressing paths of water in an ethereal space without solid constructions and expressing fluidity with light materials. AQVA sobre ÁGUA arises from the inspiration of the place that hosts it, from its archaeological remains as traces of time. Third inspiration.”
“(…) Water is my connection to Portugal, from the Mediterranean Sea of my origin to the Atlantic Ocean. Water again. Fourth inspiration.”
“(…) The contact with its archaeological heritage turns the experience into work material. Drawings, photographs and graphic material inspired by the aqueduct, water and its transport, serve as a starting point, as well as the medieval canals of the city where I live. Again the experiences from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic. Fifth inspiration.”
The inspirations become constructions that looks for connections with the place and the Museum do Baçal and also intervening in the nature that surrounds it.
